Fortnite is getting kids hospitalized for reasons you wouldn’t expect

Since the launch of Fortnite, specifically its Battle Royale mode, which has brought it to unprecedented popularity, the phenomenon of multiplayer games has captivated millions of players around the world who’ve become addicted to winning their matches and working hard to reach new levels of skills at whatever cost. However, these children may need to take a necessary break from time to time

According to new reports, hospitals have seen an increase in the number of patients under the age of ten years, and the reason, although serious, is certainly somewhat funny. Those reports were brought to light when FOX News reported this morning that an 8-year-old boy was being rushed to the bathroom after having been playing Fortnite.

The child was immediately transferred to the ER due to a violent constipation because he refused to go to the toilet for a long time, because of his preference to continue playing instead of fulfilling his need properly and healthily. Surprisingly, the doctors said that this was not the first case Fortnite had caused, but in fact had become quite familiar to them.

Dr. Mark Corkins, a pediatric specialist at children’s hospital, said the problem was most common among boys aged 5 to 11 because of their “desire to win.” at Fortnite. He added that it was up to parents to monitor their children and set a time for their children to be in front of the screen.

“As a parent, you have to look at this and say what’s the balance here? Is my child doing some sort of activity? Are they doing something active and most parents have a sense of that, but they need to actually step in and say ok that’s enough.” Corkins spoke

There is no doubt that the addiction to video games has become a matter for everyone to consider, especially with the classification of the World Health Organization (WHO) as an official disease now. Although video games are not harmful in themselves, addiction to anything is almost always bad. Spending a long time sitting in front of the screen without taking intermittent breaks has repeatedly proved harmful to many addicts, so make sure you balance your play sessions and do not let games take control over all of your senses.
