You can try out all of Mortal Kombat X characters even if you don’t buy the DLC

Looks like you won’t have to buy the Kombat Pack in order to enjoy every character in the game, in case you just wanna try them out. According to Netherrealm boss Ed Boon.

Thanx to the returning Challenge Towers in this new addition of the series, each player will have the chance to try out the characters that are exclusive to DLC. One type of the towers called “Living Towers” will provide you a playthrough to all characters.

“And every time you turn the game on, there’s going to be three towers in the Living Towers section. One changes every hour, one changes every day, and one is called the Premier Tower, which is kind of like an event tower.

“So for instance, if [DLC character Jason Voorhees] comes along, you’re going to have a Jason tower that you play as Jason. And you can even use that tower if you didn’t purchase Jason. So it’s really cool, it gives the players a taste of what the character [is] and what it’s like to play them.”

There are 5 additional characters that were announced. 4 of which are exclusive to the Kombat Pack including Predator and Jason while the 5th is Guru, a Pre-Order bonus character.

Mortal Kombat X comes April 14 for PC, Xbox One and PS4. Last-gen consoles release is slated for Summer.
