SEGA wants to regain the lost trust between it and the fans
After the disastrous launch of the latest Sonic games “Sonic Boom” looks like any hope left in the fans’ hearts for the series is gone, thanx to the bad title filled with technical issues and lack of quality. But fear not, SEGA wants to regain that trust again with increasing focus on quality from now on.
SEGA CEO and President Hajime Satomi talked to an interview lately addressing some manners with the most important one being the slowly shattering trust of the fans in SEGA, and said that in order to win it back SEGA must learn from the book of Atlus in delivering quality titles.
“I’ve been talking to the employees about how we should start putting serious consideration into quality from this point on,” said Satomi. “Especially in North America and Europe, where it’s always been more of a focus on schedules, I believe that if we can’t maintain quality, it would be better to not release anything at all.
“As far as the Western market goes, we learned a lot from Atlus. If we can make a title with proper quality, I believe there’s a good chance for it to do well even in the West for players that like to play Japanese games.
“We did our best to build a relationship of mutual trust with older fans of Sega, but looking back, there have been some titles that partially betrayed that [trust] in the past 10 years.”
SEGA’s latest upcoming release in the west is Yakuza 5 for the PS3 which is coming this Summer.
