Secret message in MGS V: Ground Zeroes told us about Kojima’s deletion before we knew it
It wasn’t clear in the past if the mission meant something but it does now. Deja Vu side mission where you play as the classic Solid Snake actually indicated Kojima’s name deletion from his games before we ever heard the news.
If this is truly the case then it was a cleverly implemented message that Kojima delivered undetected. The mission’s objective is to erase the markings of all Kojima-produced Metal Gear games. What made us believe more that it’s indeed a secret message is that non Kojima titles can’t be erased, maybe it does mean that he was well-aware Konami is going to make that move and delete his name.
At the end of the mission you can hear Kaz say: “You might be able to erase the marking, but the memories will never disappear.” Heartbreaking indeed.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be the last Kojima Metal Gear game ever before his contract gets terminated by the game’s release September 1 on PS3/4 and Xbox One/360. A PC version will be released September 15.
