Meet Scorpio one of the biggest games collectors in the Middle East

We had the honor few days ago in interviewing Mr.Mostafa Temsah, or as he calls himself between players and collectors alike “Scorpio”. We talked in this interview about several topics that might wander in the mind of those who take a look at Scorpio’s huge collection yourself then continue below for the full review:

Hi Mr.Mostafa, before we start asking our questions would you mind introducing yourself a little to our readers?

Hey there awesome peeps,my name is mustafa temsah, I’m a 37 years old gamer from lebanon,i currently work in the uae and hell yeah i love tabouleh 😀 my hobbies extend to music, photography and journalism.

That’s really cool welcome again. Games collecting is one of the rare acts in our region for several reasons perhaps. Talk to us a little about how you got into this hobby and what was the first collectors edition you bought?

Well, you can say special editions is a trend started a little with ps one and ps2 but really gone popular with ps3 onwards, my first limited edition was brothers in arms highway to hell it had an awesome action figure. Ever since,i fell in love with those editions. I want to say something on the side,this hobby was better couple of years back,it was exclusive to collectors,but now a lot of outsiders have joined the club,not to collect,but to make money out of this,which resulted in ridiculously increasing the prices of some editions if not as well getting out of stock,then reselling them at hiked prices afterwards.

You have a point in that i agree to you. There will always be people abusing some activity for their personal gain. Next question since we’re on the topic: The collection you have is magnificent really and we’ve watched some of it on your YouTube channel. Is there anyone in your life who appreciated your interests and was impressed with it or do you prefer to keep it personal and separated from professional life?

Of course my gaming side is separated from that of work,but i have a group of close friends and gamers and they share the same passion as me, each collects different things but we always share each other once we hunt a great edition or a rare piece.

I think that’s great. Few years ago gamers had troubles in our society and they couldn’t find people who share the same hobby or at least it was hard to do so.. glad you have a squad of your own. next up: Are there any games franchises that you hold dear? And which side of consoles are you on?

Ever since the launch of ps one and son become my personal preference of gaming consoles,i love everything by sony,especially portal devices,PSP had had a great chunk of my time, as for the series, my favourite of all time is metal gear solid, castlevania and uncharted.

Sony undoubtedly had been a great part of many gamers’ memories. Some might lean towards the green camp but i guess you’re one of the loyal fans. Next question: When people look at your collection they must have this thought that we had.. Do you really play all of the games you collect or just the ones you really want?

I used to have more time to game,but lately not really,i do play the games I’m eager to, but the rest just for collecting,maybe one day il get the time to play more of them.

Well it was kinda expected i mean you’d have to be a free living gamer or a youtube star to play that much games. The important thing is that they look cool though and everyone dreams of collecting stuff he likes. Next: Ever regretted owning some collectors editions of certain games that weren’t up to their asking price? What are the worst games in your collection?

Well,editions in this region is like gambling,they might disappear from market,their value might increase,and in many cases,you’ll end up finding them cheap for a fragment of original price,its a matter of speculation and experience, and yeah, I’ve regretted getting most of call of duty editions at retail price,the quality of the contents dont justify the price at all,and later on they were sold for really low price which made me consider such editions as a postponed purchase not a day one purchase.

Yeah some collections aren’t really justified even though they might look cool. Next question, What do you think of current gen games and are you a fan of retro games more than newer ones? Are new games as fun?

Not really,the joy of retro games can never be found in modern games,the challenge,the fun,the struggle to beat that game or beat this boss,I’m not saying modern games are not fun, they are,but their impact doesnt last long enough, u can always enjoy super mario brothers regardless what time or day or month or year u play it, but most modern games,u end up playing them once,twice maximum and they end up on your shelf.

I personally agree, old games are still playable and much fun to this day while i don’t see myself replaying another generic shooter any time soon. Final question: What was the last special edition you bought and are you enjoying this hobby to the fullest?

Dragon quest heroes limited edition was my last purchase, I’m enjoying this hobby that has been a passion ever since the very first game the I’ve played, i dont know if I’m gonna stop collecting one day,but till that day comes, i will enjoy the thrill of the hunt as long as it lasts.
