Half-Life writer officially leaves Valve
We really don’t know what to believe anymore about Half-Life, but if one thing is for sure it’s that Marc Laidlaw the series writer isn’t going to work on future entries of the game.
Started his career with Valve in 1997, Laidlaw was since responsible for the story of the series since its inception until the last release in 2007. We don’t know if his work does include Half-Life 3 or not, as its development is still a secret.
Laidlaw confirmed that his departure from Valve was for personal reasons only, like him getting old in age and wanting to pursue other mediums and projects away from the chaos of video games.
“I am no longer a full or part time Valve employee. Where Valve may choose to take Half-Life in the future is not in my hands, I have been a grateful co-creator, but my time working on the series is behind me.”
It may be that Laidlaw already finished working on Half-Life 3 and with it the whole franchise. We have to wait for Valve’s announcement on the anticipated sequel anyway.
