Norwegian high school to teach Esports to its students

Esports have been around for quite a while, but it’s been only recently that more and more recognition is being gained. In the US, we’ve seen many universities accepting the professional players as athletes and giving them scholarships, but Norway took it to the next level here.

Garnes Vidaregaande Skule high school based in Bergen will start to teach classes about Esports starting August 2016. Even though there still isn’t a defined way on how it’s going to do it, but the focus will be on the cores of the competitive scenes like teaching students teamwork, mental skills and focusing.

This school subject consists of five hours each week, where each student is going to be playing on a high-end rig equipped with GeForce GTX 980Ti graphics card. It won’t only consist of playing but it’ll be expanding to include many theories and strategies that pro players posses.

A big step for the digital sports world. Will others follow one day? let’s wait and see.
