ESPN opens up its Esports division at last
If you’re one of the viewers of any big sport you’ve undoubtedly heard of the name ESPN, which is the world’s biggest sports network that covers all of the physical sports, and soon the mental ones. As the network has finally opened its Esports division despite not showing any intention months ago.
You’ll now notice a vertical dedicated for Esports when you visit the official website, which is something we didn’t expect since the ESPN CEO said in an interview that he doesn’t consider Esports to be a real sport. Of course, tens of millions of viewers and followers tend to disagree with that statement, and that clearly changed the way the network looked at the thing.
Activision announced previously that it opened its own entertainment network for Esports, as well as acquiring MLG the world’s biggest esports organizer. It’ll be interesting to see how the two of the networks clashes and which will be the best for the audience of Esports.
