Dota 2 Major presenter and production team fired by GabeN himself

After the recent drama that struck the latest Dota 2 Major in Shanghai, from streaming errors to bad organizing, Valve didn’t have any choice but to fire James “2GD” Harding and the technical team after failing to present the tournament well, and the decision was Gabe Newell’s very own.

Valve has fired James Harding, who hosted the English-language stream for the Shanghai Master event for Dota 2. On Thursday, Harding noted that he was dismissed by Valve from the position. Today, Valve founder Gabe Newell took to Reddit to confirm that he had fired harding while also calling him an “ass.”

“James. We’ve had issues with James at previous events,” Newell wrote on Reddit. “Some Valve people lobbied to bring him back for Shanghai, feeling that he deserved another chance. That was a mistake. James is an ass, and we won’t be working with him again.”

Not only Harding, Gabe also terminated Valve’s relation with the production company that was streaming the event, saying that it was their fault and that he’ll make sure to find suitable replacement before the main event.

“As long as we’re firing people, we are also firing the production company that we’ve been working with on the Shanghai Major,” he said. “They will be replaced, and we hope to get this turned around before the main event.”

The Major tournament is one of the year’s most important Dota 2 events with a prize of 3$ million, so we understand why Gabe was angry at how it was handled in a way that harmed thousands of viewers around the world.
