
Big companies are to spend approximately $325 million on Esports in 2016
With more and more recognition towards the Esports scene by governments and companies as a competitive market, spending on sponsorships and advertisement has been on the rise this year.
A report by research center Newzoo revealed that it’s expecting big companies to spend close to $325 million dollars in 2016. This includes $128 million that goes to team sponsorship and tournaments and $197 for advertisement and video marketing. This number is also expected to grow to $800 million by 2019.
We saw earlier this year some celebraties who jumped on the wagon of Esports like Rick Fox and Shquille O’Neal, joining tens of other names of individuals and firms like Coca Cola, Pepsi, Red Bull and Nissan. There’re currently 33.4 million Esports fans in the United States alone, with %60 percent being 35 in age and below, according to Newzoo.
