Congressman under fire for using campaign funds on Steam
Californian rep. Duncan Hunter is currently under investigations by Fedral Election Commission for using campaign funds to buy Video Games across Steam, apparently. As multiple reports state that the lawmaker spent upwards to $1300 on the digital platform Steam by the end of 2015.
The Republican has said that the purchases were a mistake by his teenage son who also made several other unauthorized purchases. The report says that the purchases run from Oct. 13 to Dec. 16 and no payback was listed during that time period even though a note was found saying “personal expense – to be paid back”.
A spokesman for Hunter said the congressman’s son used his father’s credit card for one game and then several more charges were made after Hunter tried to close access to Steam. He said Hunter is trying to have those charges reversed before repaying the campaign account.
Hunter has previously defended violent video games in the aftermath of mass shooting, so we won’t be surprised if he’s a Steam gamer too.
