Take-Two CEO: GTA franchise will be put to rest at some point and Online isn’t permanent
After five main games that Rockstar’s parent company Take-two published and several other spin-offs, it may be time to put the franchise to rest says CEO Strauss Zelnic.
In his talk at the Cowen and Company Technology Media & Telecom conference, Strauss confirmed that the multiplayer portion GTA: Online won’t be supported forever, as it was never the intention and the whole franchise will need to rest at some point.
“We do expect GTA Online’s results to moderate because October will be three years since we released it. Not only was it not our intention that GTA Online was permanent, but it’s important that it not be permanent. We have to rest the franchise at some point.”
Will that mean that we won’t be seeing a new GTA game anytime soon? Rockstar has a solid library of other games to put attention on like Red Dead, which was rumored to make an appearance at this E3 with a new sequel.
Anyway, GTA Online will be getting a new DLC in the upcoming days by the title Further Adventures in Finance and Felony on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
