Esports in the UK and what Brexit means to it

The whole world was shocked yesterday when results of the Brexit’s poll were revealed, resulting in leaving the European Union once and for all with more than 52% voting leave. So how does it affect Esports ?

A new and detailed report from Esports Observer discussed what that might potentially mean for the growing Esports market in the UK. There are some positive points, but they are far overshadowed by the more depressing negative ones that might harm this domain on the long run.

The positives include a potential as a low tax haven for esports, culture and technology and more freedom to make legislative decisions without the need for EU intervention. The bad is a little more depressing, explaining that visa and work permits could halt a number of organisations operating out of the region unless serious concessions were made. It could also signal the end of trade agreements that have so far allowed merchandise to travel freely across countries, a huge potential blow for these brands that are supported by these sales.
