Capcom Cup prize pool to be part funded by fans

Publisher and developer of the world’s most famous fighting franchise has announced that the upcoming Capcom Cup will go in a similar route to other crowfunded tournaments, such as Dota 2’s The International.

The announcement came to confirm the earlier speculation that Capcom was looking for a way to allow fans to contribute to Pro Tour prizing. When you buy the recently announced Capcom Pro Tour Premier Package DLC add-on for Street Fighter V you’ll be participating in the total prize pool, which already sets at a baseline of a whooping $500.000.

The bundle is headlined by a new stage called the Ring of Destiny, a wrestling ring emblazoned with a Capcom Pro Tour logo. It includes banners in the background which will show the names of various Pro Tour events. It also includes special costumes for Chun-Li, Cammy, and an additional character to be named later. The full Package is currently available and costs $24.99, with individuals items to go on sale at a later date.
