OMEN University Championship is coming to a college near you (if you live in Europe)
Nordic colleges’ students may finally have their shot at a League of Legends tournament of a grand scale with OMEN by HP’s Nordic University Championship, which will gather 32 university teams in this upcoming Esports event.
Universities championships aren’t something new, but OMEN is set to be one of the biggest for League of Legends so far. This coming tournament is a joint collaboration between Challengermode and HP and will be livestreamed on Twitch from the start and until the finals in January 2017 where top eight will compete in the final round at “Jönköping University” in Sweden.
“We created the University Championship because we want to give non-professional but serious teams the chance to compete in a professional environment and get something back for their hard-earned gaming skills,” Challengermode CEO Rob Efrem said in a press release. “Organizing esports around universities is a great way to spur community engagement locally at the universities.”
