Canadian University of Toronto starts taking applications for Esports scholarship
Who thought this day would come? School life has always opposed gaming life, but it’s now encouraging students to become Esports stars. At least in the University of Toronto .
The top-rated Canadian university started taking applications for the Esports scholarship that is going to be given away to those with the passion for competitive gaming. This is the first of its kind in Canada.
Victor Xin, the scholarship’s program creator and UoT alumnus spoke that students that display competitive drive through computer games shouldn’t be distracted from trying achieving success in the world of esports.
The requirements are: That you’re an undergraduate at the university’s Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, you’ve got a 3.5 GPA, and participate regularly in gaming-related extra-curricular activities.
While this is the first such scholarship to be introduced in Canada, several U.S.-based universities such as University of California, Irvine began offering esports scholarships in 2016.
