OG with flawless victory at DAC while Evil Geniuses stumbles to lower bracket

Valve Major champions OG has not dropped any game in the tournament so far. They’re the only team at the event to do so, making OG guaranteed at exiting the group stage with the tournament’s highest overall seed.

The team has defeated last year’s champions Wings Gaming, Team Faceless, Team Empire, and LGD Forever Young, a streak of victories which have put the team at the top of the standings of Group A. OG looks like the strongest team at the $580,000 event right now. And with only one more series remaining in the group stage, it’s almost a guarantee that the team will enter the playoffs with the highest seed.

On the other hand, fan favorites Evil Geniuses are facing the worst time at the event. Considered favorites to win the entire event, North America’s Evil Geniuses stumbled in their run through Group B. Coming in at fifth place in their group, the team is currently one of the worst performing rosters at the entire event. And to make matters worse, the squad will now have to fight through the first round of the tournament’s lower bracket, which is played in a best-of-one format against The International 6 champions Wings Gaming, providing a tough task.

Analysts as well as fans of Evil Geniuses have been quick to point to the team’s drafts as a potential reason for their problems. It appears that Evil Geniuses’ drafting is lacking. But given the fact that the roster has played the least amount of games in 2017, it’s not all too hard to see why the team doesn’t look as sharp as fans have grown accustomed to.

The Dota 2 Asia Championship playoffs will begin on April 1, with OG facing Newbee, and Invictus Gaming taking on Team Empire in the upper bracket of the playoffs.
