Get to know about the first day events from MSI in League of Legends
The first day matches from the main event in MSI Mid Season Invitational 2017.
Team WE beat Flash Wolves
In one of the most entertaining international matches in recent memory, Team WE of the LPL ended the second game of MSI in quick fashion, beating Flash Wolves of the LMS in 29 minutes and 50 seconds.
Team WE’s first-ever MSI match would gift fans the first appearance of Bard, a champion that has seen small buffs in recent patches, back in the group stage of the tournament. Flash Wolves were looking to survive WE’s early-game pressure and scale enough to give them a late-game victory.
Flash Wolves will now set their sights on G2 Esports of the EU LCS later on today, while Team WE face off against North America’s TSM in the final match of the day.
Gigabyte Marines won their MSI revenge match against TSM
The Gigabyte Marines upset TSM in a vicious back-and-forth game today at MSI. There were so many mistakes by both teams that it was difficult to count them all.
The game was full of mistakes, but GAM weren’t immune to poor performance, either. Despite crushing TSM in the early stages of the game, GAM continued to throw fights time and time again, giving TSM multiple chances to regain their footing. Lucky for them, however, TSM had so many more shortcomings.
The game closed out after a grueling 36 minutes, and GAM claimed their first win of the group stage. After witnessing exciting matches in both the G2 Esports vs. SK Telecom T1 and Flash Wolves vs. Team WE games, both GAM and TSM appear to be the weakest teams at this stage of MSI. Hopefully TSM’s next game later tonight against WE will prove more successful.
G2 Esports took down Flash Wolves
Despite an impressive advantage from Flash Wolves in the early game, G2 Esports toppled the LMS titans after one big Baron fight.
Following the fight at Baron, G2 decisively pushed to end the game, shutting down FW and securing their first victory in the group stage. G2 play again tomorrow against Team WE.
TSM dismantles Team WE
TSM’s recent failings at international events have become infamous.
First was the disastrous group stage at the 2016 World Championship. Then came a near sweep at the hands of an international team, the Gigabyte Marines, in last week’s MSI play-in stage. Then, at the beginning of today’s group stage, they lost to the Marines, putting their hopes at making it out of the group stage in serious jeopardy.
With all that weight on their shoulders, TSM went into the last match of the day against China’s Team WE with a desperate attitude.
Today TSM managed to salvage a 1-1 record, still in position to make the knockout round.
