Watching competitive games on the internet leads to this interesting side effect

League of Legends community having celebrities like Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, the pro who everyone dreams of becoming like him, is the best publicity the game ever had. When knowing that four out of five players have the desire to lead a pro career after watching matches online, the benefit for companies like Riot Games becomes clear.

New study conducted by research firm Peanut Lab in order to understand the growth of Esports indicates that watching pro matches online have the side effect of making people want to be in the players place. Number of people polled was around 1,000 of both males and females, who were asked about games like Call of Duty, CS: GO and more.

Narrowing the question to whether these players wanted to become pros, three out of four answered yes, while the rest preferred becoming famous streamers on Twitch. Numbers seem assuring for the blooming Esports business, which is demanding more and more players and personalities all the time especially with players careers being rather short.

All of the above means a healthy growth for esports and its companies. Riot Games, for example, had reached $1.7 billion worth in 2016 based on the fame of its game.

So have you ever had thoughts of becoming a pro? You now know that you aren’t alone in that.
