Official Esports training facility opens its doors in Jordan

One Arab country is stepping up its game in the eSports industry, and that country is Jordan. The Olympic committee of Jordan, looking at branching out into esports, decided to open a dedicated esports training facility in the country’s capital of Amman.

Aimed at providing high-quality practice environment for players within the country, the committee is hoping that this move will help popularizing esports as a whole in the country. The facility will be used by competitors starting with training for the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in September, which sees national teams compete in various esports titles. The grand opening of the facility was visited by Jordanian prince Omar Bin Al Feisal. The facility will now be home to the country’s most established competitors training, such as The International champion Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barqawi and more.

The new eSports facility has been established primarily because of the potential of Esports inclusion in the Olympic games, as well as being at the Asian Games in 2020.

For now, Jordan’s esports initiative is being overseen by a temporary committee assembled by Jordan’s Olympic committee—which aims to “help the sport to grow over the coming months and years.”
