Fragbite makes sudden changes to Philips OneBlade Cup prize pool

Both Philips and Fragbite have announced the doubling of the award for the new Philips OneBlade Cup for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Philips and Fragbite have announced that they have doubled the prize pool of the Philips OneBlade Cup to 100,000 SEK (~$12,300).

Running until November 12, the Philips OneBlade Cup is aimed at helping to find out the best amateur team in the Nordic region, with three countries involved: Finland, Denmark and Sweden.

Over the course of four weeks, Nordic teams will duke it out in qualifiers for the chance to compete in the final stage, also online. Finland, Denmark and Sweden will have national qualifiers, requiring a minimum of three players from the country hosting them, but there will also be a mixed qualifier, which will only require teams to field at least three Nordic players, regardless of their nationality.

Originally, the Philips OneBlade Cup was due to have only four teams – one from each qualifier -, but the tournament organisers have decided to expand the number of teams to eight, with the allocation of the extra four places still to be determined.

The Swedish qualifier came to an end last week, with maskinisterna qualifying for the final stage after beating CHUPAS 2-1 in the final. The Finnish qualifier is currently in the semi-final stage, while the Danish and the mixed qualifiers have not yet started.
