Africa Qualifiers for WESG 2017 are now open – sign up now!

World Electronic Sports Games, or WESG, is returning once again in the 2017 edition of its international eSports tournament. Despite the delay into the new year, the level of excitement is at its highest with qualifiers now open for the African region

 

Founded in 2016, WESG is aiming to provide even more in its second ever event differentiating itself from other competitions by adobting a similar format to real sports World Cup, having teams representing their nationality on a global scale and getting different players together for the pride of their country.

Registration is now underway for the African continent teams, being divided into North African Qualifiers (including Egypt, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya and Algeria) and South African Qualifiers. The winners of the two qualifiers will reserve their WESG 2017 World Finals spots in China for a chance to win from millions of dollars in prize pool, as well as a $10,000 shared between qualifiers winners.

As for games being played the list includes: Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, StarCraft 2 and Hearthstone. Start dates below:

  • January 18 – 21: CS:GO and Hearthstone South African Qualifiers

  • January 25 – 28: Dota 2 and StarCraft 2 South African Qualifiers

  • February 1 – 4: Dota 2 and Hearthstone North African Qualifiers

  • February 8-11: CS:GO and StarCraft 2 North African Qualifiers
