A team of hackers succeed in installing Linux on PS4

News after news on hacking attempts of Sony’s latest PlayStation device. This time, a team of hackers were able to install a full Linux OS on the hacked PS4 using the web browsing exploit and running on an older Firmware.

Thanx to that exploit, fail0verflow team managed to test out a few things that they can do like installing a full different OS to run on the console. Not only that, but they also tried out a modded Pokemon GBA game running on the PS4 using this environment.

Even though what this team might be considered an achievement, we’re still far away from a full hack to the entire console to play cracked games. The exploit could easily be fixed in later Firmware releases, and the console’s protection is still away from being fully discovered.
