Amazon to sponsor upcoming Vainglory summer season tournament

It looks like Amazon are betting on the market of Mobile Esports in a big way. After sponsoring many events related to the online MOBA title Vainglory it seems that now the e-retailer has become the main sponsor of the upcoming summer season 2016 tournament, which is set to be one of the largest yet.

Starting today until September 11th, the top eight teams in North America and Europe will be facing each other every weekend. The Appstore will reward players with discounts and Amazon Coins throughout the tournament. By the end of the season, the e-retailer will host a huge championship event which we don’t have many clear details about yet.

Vainglory is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game for touchscreen devices, which Apple demoed on stage back in 2014 to show off the power of its A8 chip. It has become the biggest touchscreen eSport since then and is a main reason why people are thinking about the future of Mobile Esports and how it might be a legit platform.
