Check out the eSports Winners from The Game Awards 2016

The 2016 edition of The Game Awards finished in Los Angeles on December 1st, with three categories dedicated to esports.

Top gaming executives from around the world converged on the ceremony where titles such as Pokemon GO picked up mobile game of the year and Street Fighter V won best fighting game.

Competitive gaming was back again for 2016 and covered three separate categories with best esports game, best esports team and best esports player all up for grabs.

The North American organisation of Cloud9 swooped in and took the best team award, with their recent victory at the ESL Pro League for their CS:GO team and accolades across games such as Smash and Hearthstone attributing to their success.

As well as winning a number of other awards including best game of the year, Blizzard’s new FPS shooter, Overwatch, also collected the best esports game award.

Last but not least the best esports player of the year was awarded to one SK Gaming’s CS:GO player, Marcel ‘Coldzera’ David, for his part in his team’s two Valve Major wins in 2016.
