CS: GO pro community rages because of this ESL rule change
VAC banned players may not be left outside of ESL competitions anymore, thanks to the new change in the organizer’s rulebook.
First noted by HLTV, the new rule says that players with a VAC ban over two years old will now be able to compete in CS: GO tournaments. This news have been met with negative reactions from players around the world as it allows those who were caught cheating once to get the same chance as everyone else.
From “karrigan” to “twist”, everyone has been voicing their anger at the new change. However, ESL has released a statement clarifying the situation. The TL;DR version is that they basically acknowledge the worries of players but the firm’s own ESL Wire program will make sure no cheating happens, and that the new rule is already being used at ESEA. The company did say that they will be working on optimizing their rules however, so what happens remains to be seen.
People wouldn’t be so angry if the new rule didn’t basically say only match-fixing is a lifelong ban while cheating is ok, as players think both are just as bad. Meanwhile, the new rule will be applied in upcoming ESL organized events such as IEM Sydney and ESL One.
