CS: GO pro player banned for cheating mid-match at ESL UK Premiership
We don’t know whether this happened because of his high confidence or just sheer stupidity, but apparently this British pro player got into trouble for cheating at the middle of one match yesterday in CS: GO.
During a game against Rize Gaming UK in the ESL UK Premiership, Joseph “Joee” Leigh, a prominent member of the UK CS:GO community, was removed from the game when ESL’s anti-cheat cheating software detected the cheating attempt of the player. The match was forfeited and Rize Gaming UK advanced on through the tournament.
“Joee” will be facing a penalty of not being able to play in ESL events for at least one year, as well as being banned from UK-based LAN events such as Insomnia. This isn’t the first time someone cheats at CSGO or similar competitive games, but it’s certainly one of the rare occasions for a player to do it mid-match. Joee admitted that he purchased a private cheat from a Ukrainian developer under the pseudonym keybode. The 23-year old also appeared unrepentant, explaining to UKCSGO.com that “It’s just a game. It was fun and it’s still fun looking at the tweets, no harm done to anyone so whats the problem.”
