Details on upcoming 15th CS: GO major revealed, here’s where it’ll be held
It seems that the next major tournament for Valve’s competitive shooter will witness the return of heated international matches to Germany, after revealing the first details of upcoming CS: GO Major
The upcoming Major Championship, which will take place in Germany for the first time since ESL One Cologne in 2016, will come to us through StarLadder, which has been awarded the rights to organize the tournament by Valve. StarLadder chose the German capital Berlin to host the event, housing a global presence by the best teams in the game right now.
The new announcement came to break the circle that we saw during the past few years of Major Championships, which circled between North America, Poland and England. Although the German city of Cologne is considered to be the capital of Counter-Strike competitions according to ESL, StarLadder will seek to show Berlin in a positive light this time as a significant name in esports.
It is not yet clear when we will see StarLadder Major, as the focus is inevitably on IEM Katowice first, which will end on March 3. We may see a similar date to the FACEIT London last year in September, but Valve may also respond to players ‘demands this time to make the tournament take place earlier before players’ break in August, as many professional players want to finish the competition before their resting time.
StarLadder Major, with a $ 1 million prize, will be the largest tournament to date for this esports organization, which is famous for its StarSeries competition held annually in Ukraine with $ 300,000 prize pool.
