DreamHack Open Winter 2017 reach it’s playoffs stage
There are no longer any teams that don’t deserve their spot in the current DreamHack Open Winter 2017 and the recent results prove the true meaning of their skill.
mousesports have booked their place in the DreamHack Open Winter playoffs after defeating BIG 2-0 (16-9 on Overpass, 16-3 on Mirage) in Group B’s decider match.
mousesports opened up the action on their opponents’ map pick, Overpass, with a successful retake to win their CT pistol. After following that up with an anti-eco, the European mixture held off an execution from BIG thanks to an AWP quad-kill from Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný.
Even though Fatih “gob b” Dayik’s men then secured their first in a semi-buy, mousesports kept their defense very tight and increased their lead to 10-1.
It was only then that BIG get a footing in the game, thanks to a 2v5 clutch from Kevin “keev” Bartholomäus and Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz, with the German team then winning two of the remaining three rounds to reduce the deficit to 4-11.
The Germans came from the break with all guns blazing, quickly securing five rounds in a row after picking up the T-side pistol. Still, once mousesports picked up the pace it was all over for BIG as oskar’s men strung five rounds together to take the map, 16-9.
Miikka “suNny” Kemppi came up huge in the opening round on Mirage with a triple-kill to help mousesports win their CT pistol.mousesports refused to take their foot off the gas and kept pressing on, forcing BIG to call a tactical pause in the eighth round.
Although BIG were able to find some entry-kills and put up a fight in the bombsites, Chris “chrisJ” de Jong’s squad was far too hot to handle and continuously came out on top, losing only the 15th round as the half came to an end with a lopsided 14-1 scoreline.
BIG did not want to throw in the towel and won the second pistol round of the map thanks to gob b finding four opponents. BIG’s recovery would be short-lived, however, as a quad-kill from suNny in the 18th round put mousesports on match point, with the European mixture then taking the following round to lock down the map, 16-3, and secure their place in the semi-finals.
