Eight people arrested for being involved in match-fixing in StarCraft II
Similarly to the last time when twelve people got involved in match-fixing and arrested, another StarCraft II incident led to eight new people being arrested by the Korean police for match-fixing in two matches in the game.
A pro player who wasn’t named was fined 70.000.000 won ($62.000), as well as arresting four brokers involved and two financial bakers who provided the money for this act. This wasn’t the only case, as another player is said to have done the same and faced a fine of $26.000 as well as two other big bakers.
“This second investigation confirms esports match-fixing is occurring on a broad large scale, highlighting the need for not only continued policing, but extreme measures from the Korea eSports Association,” the report said.
