ESL One New York to be the first Esports tournament to adapt VR broadcasting
Upcoming ESL One tournament won’t only bless us with some great competitions between the world’s best eight teams at CS: GO, but it will also be the first to adapt VR into its broadcasts to provide audience with the option of controlling the camera the way they like.
New York’s $250.000 ESL One will provide the option to be inside the matches as 360 spectators. This is thanks to the tools provided by SILVER.tv the new website that describes itself as “Twitch of VR”. The platform launched earlier this year with $6.2 million of funds to introduce VR broadcasting in upcoming tournaments free for Esports fans around the world.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive won’t be the only game to use VR in its streams as another Valve property will surely follow in its steps. We’re talking about Dota 2 of course which was hinted to be coming to SteamVR platform in the future.
Eight of the world’s best teams will be competing for the $100,000 first prize this October, including reigning major champions SK Gaming, ELEAGUE champions Virtus.pro, Fnatic, G2 Esports, Natus Vincere and Astralis. Watch the VR demo below courtesy of Silver.tv to get a taste of what’s to come:
