Esports is now Premier League’s biggest competitor according to chairman
English Premier League’s chairman admitted that he currently sees the world of Esports as the biggest competitor to face the dominance of his League, rather than it being another sport in the UK.
“We see what’s entertaining young people as being a competitor to try to make sure they stay interested in this type of thing, which is why the whole community-based activities, the whole interactive-based activities, are so important,” Scudamore explained.
Scudamore believes that there’s a wall between pros and fans in traditional sports that just doesn’t exist in the digital world, and that’s something soccer will need to overcome, , to connect with the youth.
It’s very interesting hearing such words from the chairman of a large football organization. This new market that is now worth close to 1$ billion in worth has millions of fans all over the world proving it as one domain not to be underestimated.
Many football clubs started to adapt by signing with pro FIFA players like Manchester United, Schalke 04, West Ham United and more.
