Team Liquid, a name known by anyone who has been following Esports news the past few years. The organization is considered to be one of the biggest and most successful out there, and it was an honor for us to be able to talk to one vital part of the Dota 2 team: Mr. “Mohamed Morad”, the Team Liquid’s Dota 2 team manager. Below is the interview we had with him at Esports Middle East.
– Mr. Mohamed I welcome you today with us. Nice to have you here! I would like to ask you for a quick introduction of yourself to our followers
Hello,
I am Mohamed Morad, holding a Bachelor’s degree in business information systems and currently Manager of Team Liquid’s dota 2 squad.
– Esports, oh boy Esports. This new emerging business that is estimated to reach half a billion dollars in just few months has had a very humble beginnings with LAN parties between friends and all and now it’s on this worldwide scale. How was your start with it and did you ever expect it to become this big?
It all started by playing the game and having fun with friends. I always believed that esports could come this far. The journey just started.
– Team Liquid Is one of the largest names in the market right now and one of the most successful teams on the field. What most of us have in mind when we see your nationality is to wonder how did a friend from the ME region and specifically from Egypt reach this kind of global stage? Can you share some details of your journey with us?
I have been following the esports scene for quite a while now, went to several events and met a lot of great people. It just developed naturally that I found myself working in the esports scene.
– There has always been a difference between doing something for fun and a side hobby and having it as a full time job with responsibilities and such. Do you still enjoy video games like before or is it now just a regular business that you have to deal with? Actually, do you game at all anymore and is it only Esports titles?
I enjoy video games and I always will. No one can take my couple of dota games during weekend
– Anything you want to tell us about the players preparations before each match, so aspiring players can take notes?
8-10 hours of daily training is not a rarity, doing sports can help a lot to increase productivity.
– How do you see the situation inside the ME region for Esports and are you participating or willing to participate in any form in the region?
I am happy to see the scene growing in the ME. There is a lot of potential . I would not be surprised to see more Investors entering the ME scene.
– Any Arab teams you’ve been following? And do you see yourself managing an Arab roster sometime in the future?
I have been following elabs and SlicenDice, got to support my ME boys.
– Since we have you here already, we must ask for your advices based on your experience so far on a global stage: What can you tell young aspiring players in the region about becoming a pro player?
– Player “GH” recently joined Team Liquid’s Dota 2 squad. What do you have to say about him from your time together?
Gh is a talented player and proved that he can be one of the best during Dreamhack.
– Any last word you’d like to add for our (and Team Liquid’s) fans?
Thank you for the interview, happy to see the ME community growing. I am coinfident that we will be seing more talents from ME joining the professional esports scene in the future.
– We thank you so much once again for giving us of your precious time today! We wish you the best of luck in the coming months of this new year and may it be a good one for all of Team Liquid’s staff and players!
