Final Fantasy VII Remake battle system is drastically changed but still recognizable

The announcement of Square Enix remaking one of the most iconic video games of all-time got us all excited. However, fans have been concerned that the change might be too much it won’t be the same game anymore. Tetsuya Nomura announced today that the upcoming change is indeed drastic in term of gameplay yet it will still be recognizable.

Nomura said he wants to add changes to the battle system to make it more lively. He doesn’t want to have the characters standing still waiting for their turn like the PS1 original release. Even though he said the change will be “drastic” he promised fans will still be able to say “Yep, that’s Final Fantasy 7”.

“We are bringing dramatic changes to the Final Fantasy 7 remake,” Nomura told the magazine.

“That being said we want to clarify: we’re not going to be changing it into a shooter or something like that. We are going to be bringing dramatic changes, but we want to make sure it’s still recognisable.”

Final Fantasy VII Remake is coming to PS4 first then to “other platforms”, with PC release being confirmed. However there’s no release date up till this point.
