First Esports racing team Esport+Cars announced
Up till this moment we’ve mostly seen professional players competing in First person shooters and strategy games, but what about racing for a change? This is what the new announcement of the world’s first Esports racing team is all about.
While competing in racing games isn’t something totally new, the new project by one of the founders of this business aims to take it all to the next level thanks to the new technologies in the gaming scene. Gran Turismo GT Academy founder Darren Cox announced the world’s first virtual reality Esports racing team under the name of “eSport+CARS”.
“The eSPORT + CARS Virtual Racing team is a first step in professionalizing motorsport in the virtual world, “We know that motorsport audiences are dwindling; we know we need something to bring the younger audience back to the sport and I firmly believe gaming can help do this” Cox said. Why? Because I see it as a very exciting first step in bringing new fans to the grandstands-whether they be at eSports events or Silverstone on a wet and windy Sunday.”
The new announcement is great news for the competitive racing scene in general, which recently saw Microsoft announcing an annual Forza championship starting with this year’s Forza 6 and the upcoming PS4 exclusive Gran Turismo Sport which aims at getting players to compete in races on real world prizes.
