First-ever CS: GO televised tournament ELEAGUE was viewed 19 million times
TV isn’t dead yet for video gamers. That’s exactly what was put on display after the first-ever televised CS: GO tournament came to an end.
TBS revealed the numbers after ELEAGUE’s conclusion which ended with Virtus.Pro becoming the champions over Fnatic. Apparently, the total number of views reached 9 million viewers on the channel. Tuner noted that 3.4 million of those viewers were new to the channel and heavily came from the male millennial demographic (ages 18 to 34), showing how esports can attract a young audience.
“Throughout its debut season, Eleague consistently delivered strong audience consumption across all platforms, including 897 million gross minutes of video consumption on TBS and Twitch,” Turner noted in a press release sent to GamesBeat. The championship had a peak of 168,500 concurrent streams on Twitch.
ELEAGUE will be getting a second season this fall, as well as a Overwatch tournament later this year.
