Here are the new features presented in update 7.00 for Dota 2
After Dota 2’s major tournaments and events concluded for this year, it looks like Valve is focusing on patching and improving the game in the next couple of weeks as it became apparent with the new, huge update called “7.00”.
The massive update 7.00 patches and changes the entire look of the game. It introduces a new hero, rework all other heroes, and dramatically changes the game’s map, UI, and gameplay.
The patch introduces the first hero outside of the classic ensemble of characters available in the original Dota mod: Sun Wukong, the Monkey King. While planned to feature in the original Warcraft 3 version of Dota, the hero was never released until now. As such, Monkey King is the first original hero ever released in Dota 2, as all 112 classic heroes had up until now already been imported from the first iteration of the game.
The most notable of the changes, however, is an all-new feature called Talent Trees, which allows players to now receive additional perks in the form of buffing up specific spells or granting your hero an additional set of attribute points during a game. Players can select talents four times throughout a game: When a hero reaches level 10, 15, 20 and 25. For example the hero Weaver can now, when hitting level 10, choose whether they want to make the spell Shukuchi do an additional 30 damage, or simply net themselves 6 points in the strength attribute.
Valve also introduced something special for tech-savvy players with the ability to program their own non-player controlled characters. Bots in Dota 2 can now be programmed to behave and play in a unique fashion. What’s more, these unique bots can be uploaded to the game’s user-generated content hub, the Steam Workshop. That means anyone will soon be able to enjoy a wide variety of bots in the future.
