IEM Oakland 2017 full results recap

The IEM Oakland 2017 kicked off on 14 November and gave us many interesting and surprising matches thanks to global names.

The tournament opened with a competition between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Astralis on the map of Overpass. This was the first to win after an even-round equalizer of 16-11 with a clear lead to Patrik ‘f0rest’ Lindberg.

The second match was on the Cobblestone map and in the presence of the international team SK Gaming and their opponent Team EnVyUs.

Despite the overwhelming superiority of French player Cédric ‘RpK’ Guipouy, his team unfortunately could not close the game for him, but the other team won that match after we reached for additional rounds because of the draw, and ended the game after several minutes at 22-20.

SK Gaming was able to capture their second win of the tournament after winning the match against Ninjas in Pyjamas in the Cobblestone map, Fredrik ‘REZ’ Sterner He turned out to be the best player in the match, according to his latest results, but that was not enough it seems.

The next victory was in favor of Cloud9 with their first game, having taken control of their opponent TheMongolz to get a 16-9 lead in the Mirage map. With a special brilliance from Timothy ‘autimatic’ Ta, his opponent Enkhtaiban ‘Machinegun’ Lkhagva was at the same Performance level despite his team’s loss.

Astralis was the victim of the next game in the tournament, which marked the second victory of the American team Cloud9, but the victory here was not normal, recalling the brilliance of Jake ‘Stewie2K’ Yip.

Team EnVyUs regained their first result by winning their second game against TheMongolz, who now lost two straight games, in the Cache map with a score of 16-12. Fortunately, Cédric ‘RpK’ Guipouy made a spectacular save after stealing the spotlight for the second time.

Having found their self on the edge, Astralis managed to save their self by breaking out Team EnVyUs and scoring a win in the inferno map 16-11, also we mention Adil ‘ScreaM’ Benrlitom who was the highlight of the match.
Unfortunately for TheMongolz, the third time was easily lost by SK Gaming after 16 minutes. It was obvious that Marcelo ‘coldzera’ David appeared on the maze.

Now we are entering the depths of the battles and the giants’ struggle. We will be talking about matches between huge international teams.

The first conflict here between the world team FaZe Clan and their giant rival G2 Esports, in a more than impressive match on the map of Overpass, proves to all what the mighty struggle  between the world biggest teams means.
The match was very close in most of the game, and the French giant almost scored their first victory in this tournament, but their opponent stole the opportunity for them self at the very close result 16-14, recalling the usual brilliance of the French player Kenny ‘kennyS’ Schrub, who ranked first in this The match despite the loss of his team.

Former Major holders Gambit entered the tournament in weakness and left the banner of victory in their first game  on Train for a quick and easy loss to their opponent OpTic Gaming 16-7.

FaZe Clan maintained their brilliance in the next match for the second and most successful victory in the Overpass and perhaps the easiest victory in the tournament. Ironically, against OpTic Gaming who were  a surprise force to us in the last match.

Renegades suffered an unexpected loss to Team Liquid in a stressful match on Cache, which ended in a 15-15 draw, but the extra rounds took some surprises to announce Team Liquid’s 19-17 win.

The surprises were of a heavy caliber when we reached a match between G2 Esports and Renegades, losing their first consecutive match with the Cobblestone map with a 16-9 lead.

The train of surprises continued quickly towards the next game and Gambit took another defeat against Team Liquid in the Mirage map after reaching additional rounds with a score of 19-16.

FaZe Clan are clearly in control of the tournament, sitting on the top side of all the teams in the official standings during these group matches.

But they almost lost this superiority because of the undefeated performance of team Renegades, who rose from the inevitable loss at 12-3 in train to quickly control the atmosphere of the game and barely win.

Of course, they could not make it because of the big difference between them. The game ended 16-13 but that does not diminish their performance.

The last game we’re talking about today is between Gambit and G2 Esports. Two teams have suffered a lot of losses in this tournament, and only one of them has achieved their first win, and today G2 was moving into extra rounds to earn the win, the final result was 22-19.
