IESF reveals Global Esports research center, in addition to the 2018 World tournament prizes

The International Electronic Sports Organization, or IESF, has unveiled a few interesting news this week, most notably the announcement of an esports research and development center, as well as the recent unveiling of the 2018 World Sports Awards

The largest e-sports organization will launch the “Global Esports R & D Center” for research this year, and the vision for this exciting new project is to strengthen the dynamic e-sports system and ensure continued development within this area. With support from Busan Metropolitan City and Busan Information Promotion Agency, the project will be based on three pillars over the next five years. These components include the introduction of an academic electronic sports research center, a global training center and an international referee academy.

The Academic Research Center will conduct supportive and encouraging studies of electronic sports to further strengthen the academic foundation and continuous development towards the future. In 2018, the Center will provide support to researchers around the world to encourage further research. IESF will also focus on developing an archiving platform that will collect and share all research on e-sports that can be accessed by the general public wherever they are.

The Global Training Center is set to provide training clubs and camps for official e-sports teams, where athletes will be able to compete against other teams and exchange experiences. Managers of these teams will also be able to access resources related to e-sports training provided by the Global Research Center. The training center will be equipped with a demo esports zone, as well as technical and multimedia halls to host strategic meetings. In addition, the center will also play a role in bringing athletes into the professional world, while opening the doors of leisure for the general public to encourage them to practice this sport.

The International referee Academy will focus on establishing and developing special training courses for international referees. IESF will undertake this task with the support of its own divisions and game developers to ensure that the methodology fits the high standards required. The certification process will begin in 2019. World referees will be distributed to high-level matches within national tournaments, qualifiers, IESF World Championships and its partners.

The organization will continue to pursue similar projects to support e-sports through ongoing discussions with stakeholders at the Global Esports Executive Summit this year in November.

On the other hand, IESF has shared information about the upcoming World Championship awards, which will be held approximately 75 days later in Korea’s Kaohsiung this year. A total of $ 54,000 in prize money will be distributed to the winners, with $ 10,000 awarded to each winning country after the results are collected and winners selected. The tournament will be held in three games: the League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Tekken 7. The upcoming tournament is expected to be the largest in the history of IESF, and will compete 42 countries from all the poles of the world.
