Mortal Kombat X Esports is now a thing
We’ve seen the game in many competitive scenes before, but this time Mortal Kombat is out to make an independent name for itself in the Esports market with these ESL events.
The news were announced today alongside a trailer. The total prize pool for the sponsored events will be $500.000 across three sections which are ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League Season 3, ESL Challenger Cup, and few small-scale tournaments around North America and Europe.
ESL Pro League will be seeing players competing on PS4 starting April 3 in an Eight-week season. Sixteen winners will be announced and are to head to the live tournament held in California to compete on $200.000 prize pool in June.
ESL Challenger Cup is made for those who can’t attend the other tournament as it will be online for PS4 and Xbox One where matches are played weekly, with big events streamed live online. The tournament goes through June and anyone can participate.
As for the small tournaments they will be funded and supported by ESL, and the prize pool will be from the previously mentioned $500.000 which is subject to change, as players who purchase skins in the game will contribute to the prize pool directly like in Dota 2 International tournament.
