Oakland is getting its own Esports Stadium
Video games fans in the US can look forward to the construction of Oakland’s first Esports stadium with a space of 16.000 square foot at Jack London Square, thanks to a new investment by one Chinese company.
Up till now most competitions were held in other sports’ stadiums, but the upcoming Oakland arena is one of the first Esports dedicated areas in the USA joining other planned stadiums across the country. People will be able to cheer and compete in their favorite games like Dota 2 and League of Legends all the time.
“I’m surprised it took this long. There’s lots of tech people, lots of students, lots of gamers in the Bay Area,” said Justin Wong, vice president. They’ll watch at home, they’ll compete at home, but the natural culmination is they want to gather together and see who’s the best,”
The new 1,000 seat arena will look much one in Orange County and will be financially backed by the same Chinese sports and entertainment companies.
