OpTic Gaming wins big at MLG Columbus’s Gears of War 4 Pro Circuit

OpTic Gaming came out victorious in the first major Gears 4 esports Pro Circuit event was hosted by MLG in Columbus. Teams travelled from across the world to fight for the biggest event in the history of Gears of War, across the weekend of November 25th to 27th.

This tournament was always going to be a fight between OpTic Gaming and Team EnVyUs and as expected both teams matched up in the winner bracket final. EnVyUs looked uncomfortable from the start and were quickly sent to the loser bracket in a swift 2-0 beating. Fighting off the challenge of BOT Empire in the loser bracket final, EnVyUs looked resilient as they faced OpTic again the final. In a completely different display from the WB final, the Boys in Blue forced a second series with an unexpected 2-0 win. Many speculated that OpTic had gone full tilt, but the GreenWall charged back into the faces of nV, sweeping the final two maps in emphatic fashion, including coming back from 3-0 down on the second map to win 7-4 to be crowned champions.

OpTic won the first place and $120,000 cash prize, whereas EnVy had to settle for $60,000 and the second place. Congrats to both teams!
