Orcus wins the WCA 2017 MENA Dota 2 championship
Sixteen teams, twelve Arab countries, and one winner. That’s the WCA 2017 MENA qualifiers for the past couple of weeks. Days full of tension, competition, and enjoyment have reached their conclusion with the top three teams proving their worth out of over 100 teams that started the journey
After excelling in their own national qualifiers, Team Lebanon, Bend Over and Orcus have reached the final stage of MENA competition representing Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan respectively. The road wasn’t easy, as Orcus faced a loss against Bend Over earlier in the quarter final where it was drafted down to the Lower Bracket. However, it made its way back up after defeating both Art of Execution and Smash and then executed its revenge on Bend Over winning 2-0, advancing to the Grand Final of the tournament against Team Lebanon.
TL itself was not an easy competitor. It had one of the best players in the world, “GH” waiting for his Team Liquid and TI7 partner “Miracle-” as they clashed in the final game for their first time. Amer came back to aid Orcus after being away at the quarter finals because of his schedules, but we’re now sure his teammates appreciate him coming back as they managed to snatch 3 games and ultimately winning the tournament.
Prizes for the top three teams were: 106,600 UAE Dirhams for Orcus and a place to compete at the WCA 2017 main event in china, 53,000 UAE Dirhams for second place winner Team Lebanon, and 26,500 for 3rd place Bend Over.
Congratulations to winning teams and good luck to everyone who participated in this big event. WCA 2017 is only the start, and we hope to see more of pro players who made this tournament possible.
