Panathinaikos F.C. announces Esports division
Following in the footsteps of many other football clubs around the globe, Greece’s celebrated sports club “Panathinaikos F.C.” has just announced an Esports division with only two days remaining of the current year.
The club didn’t confirm which games they’ll start up with but has mentioned in the press release names like League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, StarCraft, FIFA and NBA2K. No players were announced either.
Greek Esports pro Konstantinos “FORG1VEN” Tzortziou, former AD carry for H2K Gaming and currently free agent, tweeted about the club’s entry into esports and wished them good luck. FORG1VEN also stated that he is not affiliated with the club in any way at the moment.
Panathinaiko’ announcement comes after a number of big teams all over Europe signed deals with pro gamers and made their own Esports divisions, starting with FC Schalke all the way through to Paris Saint-Germain.
