Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds gets its first ever LAN tournament and the prize is huge
It looks like it’s time for PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS to get its well-deserved tournament where players fight not only for survival, but for a big sum of money increasing the tension and excitement. This is PUBG Gamescom Invitational, presented by Bluehole and ESL!
Eighty of the world’s best PUBG players, influencers as well as gamescom attendees will be competing at the game’s very first LAN event from August 23rd – 26th in Cologne, Germany. A huge prize pool of $350,000 USD prize pool will be up for grabs spread between players. This will be made possible thanks to the new exclusive vanity items that will be available in August 3rd where players will have the opportunity to purchase them and directly supporting the Gamescom PUBG Invitational as well as charities of Bluehole’s selection.
“From very early on we knew that the success of PUBG was reliant on the passion of its community. We want to celebrate this by inviting eighty of the top players from around the world to compete in the first offline invitational,” said Chang Han Kim, VP and Executive Producer at Bluehole Inc. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how quickly our community has grown, and can’t wait to hear about everyone’s experience this summer.”
As for the format for the tournament, the event will span over four days and include a variety of game modes, such as Solo Mode, Duo Mode, Duo FPP (First Person Perspective) and Squad Mode. The best overall scores after three matches will determine the winners. The event will be broadcasted across Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, Mixer and Twitter starting at 16:00 CEST each day and both PUBG and ESL will provide extensive coverage, including interactive community engagements with participating players on social media.
More details about the Gamescom PUBG Invitational will be revealed over the coming weeks including player announcements, prize pool distribution and further gamescom related PUBG activities.
