PUBG Mobile and Fortnite owner chooses Dubai as a regional HQ

One of the largest, if not the largest, video game companies has just signed a cooperation deal with the Emirate of Dubai to expand its services in the Arab region, thus enhancing the role of UAE as the destination for Arab players and their hub for esports

 

 

 

Dubai Internet City (DIC) announced today that it has been selected by Chinese company Tencent, the owner of the largest stake in Epic Games, the owner of Fortnite, as well as PUBG Mobile as a regional HQ in the Middle East and North Africa, which promises more Arab support in the company’s online games.

Ammar Al Malik, CEO of Dubai Internet City (DIC), said that the launch of Tencent’s regional operations from Dubai demonstrates the confidence of the company and the technology sector as a whole in Dubai’s innovation and knowledge-based economy. He also expressed confidence that the company’s entry into Dubai Internet City Sector in Dubai and the Arab region.

Vincent Wang, general manager of Tencent’s global publishing division, said that the spread of the Internet and mobile phones in the UAE is an encouraging indicator for technology companies around the world and this is strongly related to the global gaming industry.

Tencent Games was founded in 2003 in China and has launched many interactive services and games that have brought it to the world-wide reputation with the most notable being PUBG Mobile recently.
