The real fighter “BrolyLegs”: Here’s the story of the Street Fighter pro who didn’t let his disability stop him
It’s so easy for us to complain about our inability to reach a certain level of skill in our favorite games, but we often forget that we already possess the ability to do the impossible. Just look at “BrolyLegs”, the Street Fighter pro player with the hardest of disabilities
American player Mike “Brolylegs” Begum was born with Arthrogryposis and Scoliosis, meaning that he had to live his entire life with undeveloped muscles and curved joints. This would’ve been enough for anyone to give up, but “Brolylegs” decided to escape his reality into the world of video games where he can project himself into the characters on the screen.
One game in particular changed Mike’s life forever, which is Street Fighter. You might think that playing Video Games with your face is hard enough, but “BrolyLegs” proved to not only be able to do that, but to also compete among the best players in the world at EVO 2017.
Mike said that many friend told him he can’t be good at the game, but that only served to inspire him to become better by the day. He doesn’t want any sympathy for his condition, as he wants people to only look at him as a good player who serves as a symbol telling other players that if he can do it, they can master any combos they want.
