League of Legends Worlds 2017 Quarterfinals summary

Today the Worlds 2017 Quarterfinals are end and here the most important details about this Stage.

 

 

Thanks to standout performances from Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong and Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in, Samsung Galaxy ruined LCK’s first seed and Worlds favorites Longzhu Gaming in a 3-0 sweep. The importance of this upset cannot be understated. Longzhu was favored to win all of Worlds, while Samsung struggled during the group stage.

Chinese hometown heroes Royal Never Give Up crushed Europe’s World Championship hopes with a quarterfinal victory over Fnatic. When it came to team fights, RNG edged Fnatic out. Through a combination of better positioning and player targeting, RNG took down Fnatic in almost every major team fight this series. And thanks to these team fights RNG excelled at, the Chinese team won this series with 3-1.

Finally, NA’s last hope at Worlds fell short today as Cloud9 faltered, threw away a 3-2 lead, and ultimately gave Team WE the win and the last spot in the semifinals.

Team WE will square off against Samsung Galaxy in the semifinals next weekend.
