Riot suing League of Legends botting service LeagueSharp

Sometimes, playing for extended periods in games isn’t exactly the only way to level up online. This is what services like LeagueSharp is here for, providing tools and scripts ready to be installed so you just have to “Press Space to win” performing inhuman actions in the game.

This kind of behavior is undoubtedly cheating, but what was the last straw for Riot Games was reports of thousands of players using this paid service to level up and resell accounts for hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is why the game company is suing LeagueSharp service currently.

“The botting service is designed for those users that wish to make money by creating and selling accounts that have been artificially leveled,” the complaint says. “Riot is informed and believes, and on that basis alleges, that tens of thousand of people currently subscribe to L#, and that Defendants generate hundreds of thousands of dollars each month in connection with L#.”

What happened next is interesting though. The defendants made it worse for everyone by going out of their way to destroy evidence online as well as personally attacking a Riot employee through Social Media. Riot is currently seeking to shutdown the botting service entirely as well as obtaining financial damages and legal costs.
