Scalebound was first planned as a Wii game

Developers at Platinum Games revealed some information about the process of making Scalebound as it is today, which started way longer than we thought.

Planning for the game goes all the way back to 2006, when director Hideki Kamiya wanted to make a Wii game where you control dinosaurs with the Wii Remote to do cool things for you. Scalebound entered prototype development phase after the release of Bayonetta in 2009, with its dinosaurs replaced with dragons instead that follow the orders of a little weak girl. Project underwent another last modification a couple of years ago to finally become the game we saw this year that is coming exclusively to Xbox One.

“We changed the dinosaurs to dragons, but at that point the lead character was even weaker than [current protagonist] Drew is in the context of Scalebound. She was actually a little girl who was with these dragons.”

Scalebound is coming to Xbox One in the holiday season of 2016.
